Dear journalists, and workers at publishers and printing-houses. Dear fellow countrymen. On January, 13 we celebrate the day of Russian press – a professional holiday of all contributors of mass media and those who somehow related to journalism.

Notorious fact that journalists played a large role within reformation and post-reformation periods, colossal socioeconomic and political reforms in last two decades which were rather hard to Russia. This role could be assessed differently, but nobody could humiliate or diminish it.

Russian Journalism traditionally excels in peculiar attention to social problems and plain men’s needs and hopes, in solicitous and delicate attitude to people who become the characters of the articles, in thoroughly adjusted words that could have both killing and constructive power. No doubt, Russian journalists being real professionals are always notable for not groundless but for sound critical attitude to the actions taken by the government.

Market relations act violently. They change and sometimes deform many things. But I’m glad that all in all Samara Press keeps adherence to the best traditions of Russian journalism. One can be proud that Samara Region has no “reptile” and cringing-to-authorities-and-money press. Anyway Samara Region press and the Government have constructive relationships. As a result the citizens get unbiased informational image of current events and processes in the Region.

It’s right as the press and government work for the one and the same people. Our relationships must become even more constructive because we are posed colossal contractive problems, solutions of which should influence the increasing of common weal of Russians and citizens of Samara Region.

I wish you good luck in your creative work and irradiation, health, happiness and prosperity!

Samara Region Governor

Konstantin Titov
